A full-time lifestyle director builds a working calendar around it, and the community supports roughly sixteen charter clubs covering everything from gardening to civic history. On any given week you could find a meeting of the Oconee Gardeners, a rehearsal for Theater on the Lake, a gathering of the Supper Club, or a Lakeside Sunset Social. There's a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. There are classes with names that sound like they were dreamed up by the people taking them: "Sew Much Fun" for sewing, "Stampin' Scrappers" for stamping and scrapbooking.

The clubhouse's signature events include the Fine Art EXPO, where residents display and sell original work, and the Mardi Gras parties that show up year after year on Nextdoor. These homegrown events are part of the community's calendar.

Festival Hall, a small venue in the same downtown corridor, hosted an evening of live jazz and storytelling built around Louis Armstrong this season. The community's own event calendar flagged it as an easy, low-effort night out, offering residents another option in Downtown Greensboro.

Summer Events Around the Lake

Not every off-property draw is a downtown storefront. The community's own calendar this season pointed residents toward a wakeboarding and wakesurfing competition weekend just a short drive away, with vendor booths, food trucks, and the kind of lakeside energy that pulls in both hardcore boaters and families who just want to watch. It's explicitly framed as something for both active residents and their visiting kids and grandkids, which matters in a 55-plus community where a grandchild's summer visit is often the reason the boat gets used at all.

The season's first farmers market runs on a completely different register. Fresh produce, local coffee, a slower Saturday morning near the water. Together, they give residents a choice of pace for a summer day near the water.

Local Dining Favorites

Ask around on the neighborhood board about where to eat and three names keep coming up. Family Ties BBQ & Seafood gets mentioned for the kind of meal you bring a group to. The Burch x Boathouse comes up for a more casual sit-down near the water. And PJ's has built enough of a following among residents that more than one neighbor has called it their favorite coffee shop in the whole Lake Oconee area.

The lifestyle director's calendar is worth checking every week. It tells you when pickleball courts open up, when the next class fills, when book club meets. That's real and it's useful.
